PRICING

Each piece of writing is different and the price for editing is influenced by various factors. I prefer to see a sample of the text before giving a quote to determine what needs to be done. In addition, the timescale of the project and the type of document will affect the price.

For longer documents, I provide a free sample edit of the first 1000 words for new clients. You are under no obligation to purchase my editing services after this.

For medical and scientific documents please contact me for a quote. I am happy to discuss your requirements and can sometimes quote on a per page basis, or suggest a price for the whole job. If you are seeking publication in a professional journal, I can format your document to the house style of the journal if required. However, you are responsible for selecting the journal and handling the submission process (including all associated costs). If you supply full-text copies of cited references, I will check your text against the references for medical accuracy (medical papers only).

For general editing (i.e. fiction or non-fiction books, or other documents), benchmark prices for proofreading are:

  • US$0.015 per word
  • US$3.00 per page
  • US$30 per hour

Copy editing will generally be slightly more expensive than this. Copy editing aims to improve grammar, word choice and syntax as well as flagging up factually incorrect statements, while proofreading identifies and corrects punctuation, spelling errors and typos. These prices are guidelines only and I will give a firm quotation after seeing a sample of the document and discussing it with you.

I am happy to quote prices in US dollars, UK pounds or euro.
