ABOUT ME AND MY SERVICES
David Engert MBBS, BSc(Hons), DPM, MFPM
I am a UK-trained medical doctor with NHS and pharmaceutical industry experience. I am also a CELTA-trained teacher of English as a foreign language. After living in mainland Europe and Asia for over 15 years, I’m now based back in the UK.
My services include:
- Copy editing and proofreading of documents (including personal documents), books, academic papers, and articles
- Reference checking and general consultancy on writing medical papers and articles
- For my overseas clients in particular, checking and editing texts of all types for English language accuracy
- Multiple rounds of revisions as needed
- Formatting manuscripts to the house style of a particular journal
For most documents, I am guided by the Chicago Manual of Style, but I’m happy to use another style guide if required. I prefer to work with Microsoft Word or plain text documents, but I’m flexible if you have specific software requirements. For citation management, I usually use Endnote or Zotero.
For all my clients, I want to help polish their written work to a high standard. You have worked hard on your manuscript and I will help you make it the best it can be!
My qualifications:
- Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA-Grade A) – Berlin School of English, Germany
- Membership of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (MFPM) of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK
- Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine (DPM)
- Medical degree: MBBS, University College London Medical School, UK
- BSc Mathematics, University of Warwick, UK
